  • Apple Developer News and Updates: New metrics now available in App Analytics, Account deletion within apps required starting January 31, New “Report a Problem” link on product pages

  • Understanding How Facebook Disappeared from the Internet - Facebook and its affiliated services WhatsApp and Instagram were, in fact, all down. Their DNS names stopped resolving, and their infrastructure IPs were unreachable. Read how it had happened.

  • Google Reader is still defunct, but now you can ‘follow’ RSS feeds in Chrome on Android - Google Reader is still defunct, but its spirit lives on in a “follow button” for Chrome that Google first started experimenting with in May. The RSS tracking feature was limited to the experimental Canary versions of Chrome on Android, but today the company has started enabling it on stable versions of the browser, according to Adrienne Porter Felt, a director of engineering on Chrome.

  • Google sends out more invitations to join ‘Pixel Superfans’ community - Google has operated a “community” of Pixel’s “biggest fans” since at least 2019 — if not earlier. Earlier this week, Made by Google launched a new round of invites to join “Pixel Superfans.”

  • Leaked internal factory videos show Pixel 6 Pro teardown & assembly process - With two weeks before Google officially announces and details the Pixel 6, more and more about the flagship devices are emerging. The latest Pixel 6 Pro leak is quite odd and appears to be internal assembly and teardown videos of the unreleased phone.

  • Apple appeals ruling in Epic Games case and App Store changes could be delayed - Back in September, Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers finally announced her decision in the case of Apple vs. Epic Games. Judge Rogers ruled that Apple could no longer forbid developers from redirecting users to third-party payment systems, but Apple is now appealing that ruling — which could delay such changes by years.

  • Ex-Apple employee accused of leaking trade secrets now under criminal investigation - We learned back in May this year that Apple filed a lawsuit against its former materials lead, Simon Lancaster for allegedly stealing trade secrets about “Project X,” leaking them to the media, and more. Now in new legal documents, it’s surfaced that the Santa Clara District Attorney’s Office has an open criminal investigation into Lancaster regarding Apple’s claims.

  • When is Apple releasing a new MacBook Pro, and should you buy now or wait? - Rumors have long suggested that Apple is working on a new MacBook Pro refresh with Apple Silicon on the inside, a new design, and much more.

  • Apple Japanese antitrust investigation opens, six weeks after another one closed - An Apple Japanese antitrust investigation was closed last month when the Cupertino company made a major concession. But just six weeks later, a new antitrust investigation has been opened in Japan, into the market dominance of iOS and Android.
